
Red Dot Pistol Mounted Optics
This course is designed for shooters with prior pistol experience who want to learn how to effectively use pistol-mounted red dot optics, covering setup, zeroing, and practical application.
This is NOT an NRA Instructor-Led Course
Prerequisites
Students must have completed a Basic Pistol Shooting course, an equivalent course, or have prior experience with safe pistol handling and a strong foundation in shooting fundamentals.
About This Course
Red dot sights are becoming increasingly popular, especially for pistol use. This 3+ hour course is designed to introduce and develop your understanding of pistol-mounted optics in a practical, hands-on environment.
You’ll learn the advantages of using a red dot, how to properly select the right optic, and how to effectively use modern red-dot sights—including zeroing techniques. Instruction will focus on building consistency and confidence with your setup.
What You’ll Learn
Students will focus on:
- Safe draw and presentation
- Sight alignment and sight picture (“where did it go?”)
- Dry fire fundamentals
- Live fire application with red dot optics
- Co-witness sights as a functional backup system
Course Format
This course includes both classroom instruction and live-fire training on the range, giving students the opportunity to immediately apply what they learn.
